Note:

¹Based on infant deaths reported as of September 30, 2023. Births reported as of September 30, 2023.

Rates are per 1,000 live births.

Provisional Infant Death Statistics: Infant deaths for 2022 count all deaths reported to the state by September 30, 2023, and processed through the Michigan death certificate system. This count may exclude those records without an official cause of death, or deaths of Michigan infants who died out-of-state. Prior years suggest that the number of deaths reported in January for the state are about 98% complete. Completeness of reported infant deaths varies by counties; counties bordering other states are more likely to have late reported deaths.
